EUROPE 2019
Motorcycle: Ducati ST3
Where: Remshart, Germany to Greece and back via Eastern Europe
When, how long and how far: June / July approx. six weeks and 9000km
Comments: Went south to Greece via Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania keeping away from the coast and tourist hot spots. Spent time on Hydra and Crete islands, then came back on an eastern route visiting Gallipoli. Had trouble with the gearchange which started on Crete and by the time I got to Turkey it was stuck in top gear. Made a diversion to Sofia to a Ducati dealer to get it fixed. Turned out to be a broken spring and a cheap fix. From Sofia went via Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, Slovakia and Austria back to Remshart. The ST3 has now clocked up 109,000 km.
Route: Remshart, Kitzbuhel, Kljuc, Kalinovik, Vlore, Igoumenitsa, Aigio, Hydra, Hydra, Agios Nikolaos, Agia Galina, Elafonissi, Chania, Volos, Gelibolu, Sofia, Ruse, Galati, Chisinau, Dolyna, Bodvou, Bratislava, Kitzbuhel Note: Google maps has limitations on waypoints. The route through Croatia / Bosnia Herzegovina / Montenegro / Albania was inland away from the touristed zone. On Crete it involved going along the south and west coasts before leaving via Chania. |
